does anyone know anything about it or can reccomend a site that explains? i get the basic ideas, showing skills for difficult situations out on a hack... but i still don't really understand how it's run. is it a course, is it timed? it keeps coming up with mounting and how you get points for it, but what if you have short legs and your horse is tall?

when i was eight a lady at my yard got me to do some le trec with her young horse which was a few years ago so might have forgotten a bit but first you do a hack with a map and i think it was timed so you had to plan your speed and there was checkpoints which timed you. Then there was something where you had to canter in a straight line but in a set time and then walk in a straight line also timed so you had to adjust your pace ect. Then there was an obstacle course type thing like xc but with only 1 or 2 jumps which were optional (worth extra points), some obstacles, ditch, gate, sheep pen were you cant touch the sides, raised poles you have to walk under on your horse, dismount and mount pen, bending poles. just some that i can remeber right now. i went to an offical trec training day with this lady and then a competition a few weeks later. it was quite fun and all ages can do it. sorry this is so long just pm me for anything else...hope this all makes sense.

I did my first TREC competition last week. It was a lot of fun! I didn't find it that easy, but then my horse is a bit scatterbrained. We actually find the jump the easiest part! One of the things I like about it is that everyone finds different bits difficult. The control of paces is quite hard to do well on.
