The date and location of the Lead Body for British Performance Sport Horse and Ponies (PSHP) Stallion Parade is now officially confirmed as 24 March (Easter Monday) at Moulton College, Northampton. This is an ideally central location with lots of permanent seating, a full size arena, good parking for both cars and lorries, a high class PA system and permanent on-site catering. There are also over 30 boxes available near the Indoor School and these will be used to allow mare owners to meet and greet the stallions and their owners on a more personal basis.

Spectators will each receive a goody bag of information on all the stallions taking part (or at least those that supply brochures and handouts :-)) as well as a catalogue giving 3-generation pedigrees and grading and contact information plus a voucher for a cup of coffee all for £5! Paid-for Trade stand space will also be avialable to stud owners and breed societies if they require it.

In order to take part in this Stallion parade a stallion must be currently graded /approved/licenced for breeding with a UK studbook or daughter studbook recognised by DEFRA and that is dedicated to the breeding of sport horses or ponies, or has a specific section for sport horses or ponies in which the stallion is listed. A graded/approved/licensed Stallion is one that has been evaluated and assessed for conformation, type, movement and correctness by a panel of professional judges of an accredited and recognized DEFRA studbook and has been approved to stand at public stud, or has been graded abroad by a WBFSH member studbook using these criteria and accepted into such a UK-based studbook in due course. The assessment process must also have included a five stage vetting with particular investigation of heritable or genetic conditions or vices.

Stallions that are approved for breeding in any other DEFRA recognised Uk-based studbook or section of a studbook and who have competed successfully in Grade A show jumping, Advanced Eventing or Advanced Dressage may also apply to take part in the parade and decisions on eligibility will be made on an individual basis.

All stallions taking part must be ridden unless they are old, permanently unsound or are 3 year olds that have not yet been backed in which case they can be shown in hand and on the lunge. There will be no exceptions to this and no stallion may be shown loose at any point.

Stallions will be shown in their the appropriate discipline section (showjumping, eventing or dressage) of the parade and pony stallions will be included according to discipline as well rather than as a separate group.

Enquiries for places at this parade (which replaces and widens the sciope of the Warmblood Stallion Parade organised by the BWBS, TBF and BHHS in 2006 and 2007) has already been very strong even though it was only announced to the studbooks yesterday. Production/stage direction on the day is again in the very capable hands of Lynne and Dave Crowden so an enthusiastic and knowledgeable audience is guranteed.

If you are interested in entering your stallion for the parade please PM me with your name, the name(s) of your stallion(s) and your e-mail address and I will send you a copy of the rules and an entry form.

If you are a mare owner and want to come and watch, keep your eyes open for further infomation /adverts in the equestrian press and see you there on the day :-).

NB: the evening Dressage stallion display at Hartpury originally planned for 15 Feb has been cancelled as it was decided that it would be too inaccessible for many people and there were no facilities for mare owners to meet and discuss their choices with the stallion owners.

Brilliant well done to all to take this on. We are close enough if help is needed on the day or if any over night stables needed for overflow. Will make sure you have our contact numbers although you are far more on the ball than us so probably know who we are!

Sounds fantastic and I love that we can meet the stallions in the stables as that is a key part of the stallion shows in Germany and gives such a good indication of a stallion temperament. Can tickets be purchased in advance?

Glad you think it sounds like a good idea.

I must admit I forgot about a pre-purchased ticket facility so will have a word with Jan about it, but I would imagine if its OK she will put it in the ad (asking for sae) when it comes out and that will let people know :-)

I went to the one at Addington last year and was hoping they'd be doing the same thing there again - this one is a bit far to get to - Multimap says 4 hours, which since it's in the middle of foaling for me will be too far to drive. Shame as I have been looking forward to going again.

I will have to rely on forum members going and giving reports on the stallions there!! And piccies of course!

[/ QUOTE ] Agree with you. We will be in mid-covering season (and still foaling down) so no way would we be able to take our boy out to this. Shame it's not later on in the year (perhaps end of year once stallions have finished stud duties).

As a newbie to the breeding world, this looks like a fantastic way to start getting to know more stallions and knowlegeable people.

We would definatly be interested if there are a few pony stallion entries.

Any news as to when we will be able to get tickets etc for this yet? Don't read equestrian mags so not sure if an ad has been out for this event.

Why are these things ALWAYS on week days? How the heck are the people who will most likely support the stallions, by either sending a mare or buying progeny supposed to go along? Really annoys me. We can't all afford to keep taking days off to go to things like this and County shows and gradings etc....

If you look in your diary you will see that it is a Bank Holiday (Easter Monday) so hardly a working day I would imagine -- that is why it was selected.

Also BWBS, BHHS, Trak, SPSS CHAPS and BSPA gradings all take place at weekend so its really only AES and SHBGB that don't. I am sure that you could make it to at least some of these events during the year with this sort of timing.

LOL - I checked the calendar on my PC. Doesn't change the BEF dates or County Shows though. Also, I (and many others) do work Bank Holidays

But I take your point
