Right....

I have done about TWO showing classes in my whole life and neither were lead rein!!

We (my 7 yo daughter and I) are doing a PC show M&M lead rein class. Pony is bay.

Am thinking of tweed jacket and canary jods?

She has black velvet hat - is this ok? And should she have jod boots to match hat or brown ones??

What on earth should I wear and do I have to wear a hat of any description? Would trousers and a shirt be ok with jod boots underneath?

Sorry for all the obvious dumb q's but not really into showing and I know someone will point out that it's the taking part etc etc and v low level BUT I'd like us to be turned out correctly as poss

Thanks!!!

Oh and what bits are permitted - and should I use a numnah?

hehe!! I must sound like a right saddo pushy parent but *whipers* I want to look just right!!! AND WIN!! Joke

There's just SO much you need to know about correct dress and turnout

(and I haven't a clue!)

Hat should really be blue, but as it is unafilliated, black should be fine.

I wouldnt worry too much...just be as smart as you can with what you have got!!

Example of turn out of child/pony -

assume serious competition - PC parents take no prisoners

yourself, black trousers, white shirt, waistcoat, black joddy boots, trilby type hat

pony - straight cut saddle - brown girth, brown numnah (or black and black to match black tack) - numnah should only protrude max. of 1 inch round saddle - otherwise no numnah

leather lead rein attached to the noseband - coloured 'pretty ponies' browband
small ring snaffle bit - eggbut or loose ring
plain leather reins

buttonhole to match on both child and mother

plaits if hair long enough with matching ribbon to match the browband to match the buttonhole

and if you have it of course a 1000 quid doeskin seated posh showing saddle (yes - i HAVE seen that in PC showing !!).

If you don't fancy the trousers you could always go for the floral pattern dress or the tailored suit with skirt and 'walking shoes' to run in ;-))

Why is it just sooooo easy to turn into pushy pc mother???

They used to make me cringe - AND NOW I AM ONE!!

Pony has black Wintec and brown leather bridle - oh lord!!

ETS: I'm gonna have to pass on the floral skirt me thinks.........feufolet and stimpy will have a fieldday with the camera otherwise

for bay pony - keep the brown bridle and borrow a brown saddle to match - will look much smarter

and you aren't pushy if you just aim for the turnout to be right - you are pushy if you argue with the judge (or nobble the other entries !!) ;-)

oops - forgot - little rider should have a showing cane - brown if brown tack, black if black

have a look at some old H&H showing reports - bet there's a role model piccy in there somewhere

the one round me that is terribly contested is the 12 and under fancy dress competition - now that is taken seriously - really seriously !!

fancy dress class is at mid-surrey in july
and it usually rains
one entry was a whole 'table' of food placed on top of the ponies back with leader in chef's gear carrying a menu board

No pretty ponies colourful browband for M&M and I am fairly sure no button hole or bows but may be wrong there

Brown tack, numnah fitted to saddle in brown, blue hat, tweed jacket, beige jods, brown jod boots, brown cane for ickle person. A little Wilkie snaffle seems to be the bit in fashion in the show ring at the moment!

Not sure wht you are meant to wear though
