I have a 16 month old haflinger filly (characters I know!) I have handled lots of youngsters before but this one is really quite strong and nearly got away from me a few times. She will either use her shoulder to push you out the way or pull downwards into the headcollar to use her strength against you. She has separation anxiety so I am slowly working on this and getting her used to the basics of leading/personal space etc but I am wondering what headcollars you all use as I am finding it hard in a normal one? Also do you use a lunge rope to lead in this case?
