Leaking Premier Equine Turnout! FURIOUS!

I bought a PE rug in their sale.

After 12 hours one of the surcingles dropped off.
After 72 hours both breast straps snapped.

I contacted PE who asked for pics. I sent them and predictably they said it was equine trauma that caused the problems - which of course invalidates their dodgy warranty.

It's funny how a traumatic event happened gradually :/

They offered for me to send the rug back or pay them £35 for a new one.

I told them to stick it and have since spent £33 having the rug repaired privately.

I'll never use their company again.

I've had two Bucas rugs that have been going for years and a Shires one that has been great this winter.

It's Shires all the way for me now - cheap and tough.

I've never once had a problem with mine Annie, apart from the full necks dont seem to be long enough (in the neck) for my horses. Never any other issues.

Oh b##ger, I ran a thread today wanting to know about rugs for big horses and these Premier Equine were recommended . Don't know what to do now!

My horse is a 16.1hh draft - so he has big shoulders and he is deep.

I have found Shires, Masta and Mark Todd rugs fit well.

I have a couple of Bucas rugs which fit well but the latest one I got tends to twist at the chest.

I will admit the PE fit him nicely....until it fell to bits of course ;)

I found Rhino and Caldene rugs weren't deep enough or roomy enough round the chest.

My boy has two - a lightweight and a Trio 100g outer and a 200g lining. I love them both - both waterproof and good quality no problems at with leaking or breaking and the neck covers are really good - they stay up round their ears and don't leave their necks half exposed. My only problem is that the 200g liner is too warm so he's only worn it for a week this winter. I'm going to get a 100g one for next winter. He's spent the most of the winter in his Fal 200g which is another great rug for a large shouldered horse, but the neck cover isn't as good.

I have got 3 PE rugs and think they are great, theyare tough, fit beautifully, don't slip and have never leaked. They have never rubbed a mane out either which seems to happen with must neckcovers. They are expensive but I have only bought in the sale at good prices

Ive had mixed experiences with them, found there boots brill but a pair rubbed him, so I emailed them and they took them back and offered me a replacement of another type, cant fault them for that. The rugs hmmmmm, my horse was a MW hunter type, short in the back with big shoulders and the turnouts were inches short on his back, yet fit a friends horse great albeit in a bigger size than usual, the buster fleece was lovely but too tight on his neck, yet the fly rug fit great. I have to say though the prices have gone up so much, Id rather buy a Rambo as I feel they are so much better and strangely fit my horse great despite being told they arent generous.

I've got 3 PE buster trio rugs which I've had for at least 5 years . Not one of them has leaked in all that time and i've washed and reproofed them too ymany times to count. The only problem we now have is that we have a serial rug killer who loves to break the clips so I'm forever replacing them.

so many people seem to have faulty ones. I was one of them. My buster trio, not a cheap set up, hasn't managed 3 years. Even with re proofing it iwas so bad I have had to throw it away. Not only the leaking like a sieve but also the falling appart.
Terrible rug and terrible company to deal with. A very expensive exercise.

The horse has spent the last 3 months in all the heavy rain in a 9 yo Masta. A fraction of the price and 10 times the quality of the PE plus he has been dry.

I nearly bought a premier equine rug but my filly is still growing so decided on an axiom rug on ebay. I bought both horses a 1800 d HW turnout rug with neck for £50 each and they have stayed bone dry in them all winter. Very impressed.

I am very happy with the service from PE. Yes a 200g turnout had a small damp patch inside. I had owned it for more than 28 days as it wasn't cold enough when I first bought it. After previous threads on here I phoned them up and spoke to a very helpful lady who was happy to have the rug back, wanted to know exactly where the damp patch was so they could investigate further when they received the rug. Excellent service in that they arrange for a courier to collect at no cost to me, and delivered replacement the same day. The replacement has not leaked all through a terrible wet Devon winter. Yes they get a bit heavy, and I wouldn't want to go for a heavier model, but you can always put another on top. The industrial velcro makes a very weather tight fit, and the hood style is excellent - far better than previous Horseware. I swopped from Horseware to PE because the fit is better, much better hood and larger tail flap so no wind blowing up their bottoms, plus a similar Horseware would be much much more expensive. It is also much easier to catch them in the dark because of all the reflective strips. Very helpful when trudging round a field with a torch after work. So a happy convert.

I actually quite like my Premier Equine rug! I do find it a bit huge size wise, Bought my regular 6'9 and its massive but I use it with rugs underneath so its ok.
I think all companies have horror stories. I have a Rambo that literally is falling to bits. My rug lady who is amazing said its just been very badly made. Rambo are totally not interested. Up until this point id have recommended them every time.

I have 2 PEs one 450g that has never leaked then I bought a light weight one in October with linners I can clip in. The lighter rug did leak but I contacted them and they were very helpful, sent me a knew one so it arrived the same day the other rug was picked up and this second one doesn't leak :)
