Hello
In October I purchased a weathabeta confitec waterproof TO rug. I used it a few times and the first time it rained it leaked. Horse soaking. I returned it to the shop who say they tested it and it didn't leak. No refund - I tried escalating it to weatherbeta and they called me up saying that they trust their suppliers and if shop says it does not leak then it does not. I argued that regardless it was not fit for purpose either way. I got a lecture about how horses can sweat and there might be lots of reasons the horse was wet - all true but not the case in this case. when I said they should refund me for the useless rug I was told I was being ridiculous... do I have any rights? So pissed to have spent over 70 on a useless rug?

I recently had a Wethabeeta rug replaced free of charge as the clip had broken. I was delighted with their customer service, but it was the shop that dealt with them on my behalf. I'd be going back to the shop and trying again if I were you... WB do state a 2 or 3 yr guarantee!

I ordered a WB rug online and that leaked despite the 3yr warranty thing. Apparently the warranty doesn't apply to seams, or the tail flap?!? I told them it wasn't it for purpose and got a credit note from the shop. It was leaking through where the X surcingles are stitched in which was then tracking up through the liner. That is not waterproof. Might be worth you doing your own testing? Basically I kicked up a fuss politely but very firmly with the fact that a waterproof rug must be waterproof so they gave in.

I had the same issue with a WB rug. It was not waterproof one bit within 6 months brand new with warranty. I complained and they basically fobbed me off. Wouldn't deal with me direct, wanted me to go through the company I bought it from who had ceased trading!

Awful customer service, this was about 3 years ago now.

My daughter bought a Comfitec when they first came out and it leaked very badly. it was returned to the online shop where it had come from and they replaced it with another make. It leaked at the tail flap and where the leg straps were sewn on.

However, this was the basic one and I’ve recently bought the plus 1680D one, which I hope is going to be better (has been so far) - it should be as it cost a good deal more.

You need to go back to the store, and quote consumer rights at them.

Here's a link to the necessary information.

Go at a busy time (Saturday?) and quietly but very politely insist that the rug is not satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, and you would like them to action it now.

It's worth saying that I've always had a lot of success interacting with retail staff, etc. mainly because I'm nice to them, and treat them as human beings who, despite being constrained by the system, are going to try to help you. Shouting/being rude at all is completely counter-productive. Thanking them profusely when they do help is always a good plan for the future too.
Good luck.

Those pictures are exactly like mine looked. £100 worth of no fill turnout should not be letting the wet in like that imo. Grrr. Makes me cross. It was a high denier one as I was determined to make sure I had a leak proof rug, although that plan failed.

Going to the manufacturer really should be a last resort. When you buy an item from a retailer, your contract is with the retailer and so it's the retailer's responsibility to refund or exchange a faulty product.

As for leaking seams, that looks like a design or manufacturing defect. Seams can be made waterproof (manufacturers of tents and of truly waterproof clothing manage to do it).
