Can anyone recommend/give any advice re my new 7year old sports horse who seriously leans inside in canter when schooling in the manage?

Prior to me owning him hes been mainly hacked, hunted. He is a little green when it comes to schooling in manage, he is also not very bendy either.

Can anyone give me some advice/exercises?

Try to put your weight on the side that he is not leaning on which will force him to stop. And the improve the bend, if you are in a menage, when you are in walk/trot/canter down the long side try and get him to bend. Hopefully he should stay on the track (if there is one). Keep doing it and he will eventually get the hang of it.

I have a similar problem, I half halt coming to the corner and really sit up and ride around the corner, twisting my hips and really sitting up and turning my shoulders - he's getting the right idea now

(however you should probably disregard that completely as the last time I posted something similar I was shot down in flames for it  )

My mare used to do this, I would hold her as she got heavier and heavier and then just drop the reins on her. After nearly falling flat on her face a couple of times she learned to carry herself. I used it alot when I was working in a dealers yard on leaning heavy horses worked a treat. Also cantering diagonal shapes instead of circles as they have to turn sharple, with circles and ovals they get on a roll and it is harder to pick them up. Keep the horse guessing, do lots of transitions DO NOT just canter round and round the school you will never beat half a tonne of horse in a leaning match.Thats what I would do anyway!might be worth a shot!
