Hi all not sure if this is the right section however,

I really want to learn to ride side saddle and would like to do this with my horse also.

I have contacted the side saddle association and also my specific area several times with no response, to which I am very disapointed.
I wondered if anyone had any experience and if they could recommend a way for me to get into this?

Based near Silverstone.

Thanks in advance.

i am in the same boat but do not have a horse, i contacted the side saddle association but never heard anything back, what about waiting to show season again and speaking to the ladies that are showing in side saddle classes they might be able to help out, i know that most or our local shows and the highland show all have side saddle classes

Have a look at some local equestrian centres to see if they offer lessons. I had one at Eland Lodge a few years ago and I think they do them quite regularly there. You could always contact Eland, which is poss too far for you, and ask who provides the lessons so you could get in touch yourself to find out if they do them near to you.

FWIW, I hated it and so did my horse! ;)

Hi

I note you are in Silverstone so not sure if suitable. But I can highly recommend Kay Burtenshaw at Poplar Farm EC in Clare Suffolk - she is very experienced side saddle rider and gives lessons in side saddle at her riding school. Thanks.

Thanks for all your help peeps. I have looked up Ginny Oakley as that is fairly close to me. Glos and Suffolk are a good hike away.

Think more than anything I am dissapointted with the lack of response from the side saddle association. Not a very encouraging start.
