Hi, we have 4 Shetland mares who we would like to put in foal, they are all very well bred from an (apparently) very good stallion called "Laddie of Arlington" and next year we would be looking to put them in foal to increase numbers. I know normally that is not a good enough reason for breeding but part of the will of the lady who bequeathed (sp, i such i know!) was that her line of Shetlands always remain at Arlington, plus they're good "conservation grazers" and are imo good examples of the breed.
Anyway our stallion died at a very advanced age a few years ago so we would be looking to lease one for the next season, how much would be a fair price for a well good all-round stallion? If colour makes any odds I would prefer a chesnut with flaxen mane (like the girls) but I know there are mutterings of a coloured as previous Arlington Shetlands were of broken colouring.
