Does anyone have any experience of leasing a horse?
I have recently moved back to the UK and was going to put an advert in Horse and Hound, but I couldn't find a section to put the ad under, so wasn't sure if it was common practice here.
I was looking for a schoolmaster to do novice dressage and possibly pre-novice/novice event.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thank you

I know a lot of showjumping people that have done often with much more experienced horses though.

I don't reckon you will find many horses at the level you want to lease

Sorry - I was meaning I'd love an older advanced horse, that perhaps wanted an easier life, that could get me back into competing. I did YR's 7 years ago - but haven't done anything since - so slightly 'windy' about competing again :-0

Have a look around, tackshops, websites, word of mouth. You might be able to find something for loan as opposed to lease. I loaned a novice/intermediate schoolmistress a few years ago and she was fantastic and taught me lots. Save yourself some pennies and put it back into getting back in the saddle!

I've seen adverts on horsequest for similar things so I would either look there or place a wanted advert.

i sent a letter to everyone on the badminton horse trials schedule, explaining i was looking for advanced older schoolmaster to lease and was in undated with replies... ended up with an absolute superstar :-)

good luck!!!
