Im not sure where this would go so its in NL and CR :)

Someone I kind of know went on a 3 day riding holiday to Castle Leslie. Apparently it was great, she did the sports package so 3 hours of riding a day, including XC, SJ, Hacks and Dressage.
Im really interested in doing it, but it being in County Manoghan, and me living in Cornwall, England, I cant take my own pony.
Yes, I know you can ride one of theres, but apparently its 50% cheaper to take your own horse.

So I was wondering, does anyone in Ireland lease out there horses for 3, maybe 5 days?
If so, approx how much?
And are there any out there that ARENT schoolmasters?
I like to have to ride, and a challenge :P
Preferably an SJ/Event/All rounder, as I'd be doing the same sports package as above.
If theres more around, maybe I could get a hunter?
Or a little connemara ;)

Im just trying to think about my options!

Any other ideas please say :)
Thank you!
:D

I would think that anyone prepared to lease a decent horse for such a short period for the activities that you describe would charge you more than the 50% that you could possibly be saving and you may end up with something you do not enjoy riding.

Most of the places offering this type of active riding holiday in Ireland seem to provide nice forward going horses, not the typical riding school plods you may expect, they will have plenty of horses and you may be able to ride several over the 3 days and gain some real experience as well as having fun.

This exactly. I don't know many over hear that would consider that kind of lease option and with the price of diesel by the time you'd get it up there etc you would be way cheaper to just do the full package.

Not to mention you'd probably learn a lot more on a horse they knew well, so you wouldn't spend your time sorting out their quirks but your own- sounds like an amazing opportunity! I think a big factor in people not wanting to do this would be your age as well...

Thanks guys! :D

Have decided its probably easier to ride one of there's, the reason I wanted to lease was a cost but b, I don't want to be stuck on a plod or a schoolmaster.
But the person I've been talking to has said after the assessment of riding, and if I asked, I wouldn't be, so it's sorted ;)

Lolo yeah people may be put off my age, but if I don't tell them they don't care...ie I was at a show and someone said "Your very tall for a 16 year old," I was like err I'm 13....she said that she thought I was older but I was in a 16 and under class so I had to be 16 ;)

To be honest I think you're underestimating the value of a school master. At 13, even if you're a very advanced rider for your age, I'm sure you could still learn a lot from a true school master, especially one experienced in all three disciplines.

On a seperate note, I spent a week riding in Ireland at a similar place this summer and had an AMAZING time. Most of the horses were 4 and 5 year olds as well as a few very talented school masters.
We did XC, sj and dressage and all the horses were very forward going and needed to be ridden so I wouldn't worry about getting put on a typical 'riding school' type! The place was called Clonshire if you're interested. I also did a report in here when I get back so feel free to look at that if you want to know more about the activities we did and some pictures too! :)

It's about 10 years since I have been down but I took mine and rode with 2 girls On CL horses. The horses were grand, certainly not plods and suited to their riders. The girls had a great time on them. It's a fab place. I keep meaning to go back and never get around to it.
