Leather art?

I have seen leather and wood drawn on using a heated tool (pyrography) - it burns the surface to mark it. That example in the link looks more like embossing to me though. I have embossed paper, but not leather.

That picture looks like leather that has been adhered to an embossed backing. Just like vehicle interiors, you press the leather into the pattern and it is stuck there, creating the 3D effect.

A friend I stayed with in Canada was a saddle maker and he tooled all of his leather, it was beautiful, he put a thistle on the horn of the stock saddle my OH bought.

He let us have a shot and I ended up with quite a few tools for leather work and made some name plates and coasters. We bought all our stuff in Canada from Tandy Leather (I've just discovered they have a UK website) http://www.tandyleather.eu/en-gbp/home/home.aspx they have tools and stamps etc on there. They also have kits to make a wallet/something which might be useful if you want to try it out to see if you like it.

If you like leather art, do a google search on Mark Evans leather art...

He is just WOW!
