I just wanted to get an idea as to wether I am letting my heart or head rule the cost of my boot repair.
I have broken the zips on my long leather Riding Boots and am having them replaced. How much should I pay ?

Its a Friend once removed who is going it alone in the sadllery business so as I am in a similar situation (I'm an Artist) and feel that I am suporting her endeavours I am not going to argue the price its already agreed just wondered what I should be paying elsewhere?

I've just taken a pair of Mountain Horse boots to Sidney Free Saddlers in Cirencester to be shortened and taken in and there's a hell of a lot of work to do on them, its going to cost around £40 and I'd anticipated £50 at a guess. The boots were a present so I figured £40 is better than £150+ for a new pair!

I just got the zip on my mountain horse sportives repaired at a place called feet first at Chesterfield Derbyshire for £8!! Bargain!! Mountain Horse wanted £25 plus p&p. They resoled and heeled my leather show boots for less that £20 too. Both pairs look as good as new.

I found them through a friend who had some hiking boots resoled by them, they don't advertise doing horsey gear only mountaineering and walking etc but did a great job. You can post stuff to them if you aren't local.

My friend got the zip on her posh show boots repaired by a company (can't remember the name) down south and I think it was about £15.

Yeah I'm on my second pair of mountain horse sportives and the zips went in the first pair too, luckily they were less than a year old and if you complain to Mountain Horse they will replace up to a year after purchase. Strange OH has the High Riders and they have lasted years with no problems....... maybe that is just coz he's got skinny legs lol!
