Im 5ft2 with little legs but larger calvers than maybe average!! Any ideas on long leather boots with zips that may fit? Mountain Horse seem too long & chunky, Regent seem chunky. Ive got little legs n little feet but everything i try on seems to make me look huge!! An ideas? Or shall i just wait until Blair...!

Oh, I'll be reading this with interest! I've got fairly short but chunky calves (they're solid not fat) but small feet, which makes it difficult to find decent leather boots. I think they assume that if you have small feet you're a child! Booooo

I think you'll be lucky to find anything. I too am 5'2" with 'regular' claves, and every pair of zipped boots I have looked at are too long.

I have normal leather boots and even they have had nearly 2" cuts off them so they don't dig in.

Your only hope will be short boots and gaiters. I think the tredstep ones have a vast range of sizes/lengths, but personally I prefer 'all in one' long bootes.

I can JUST get the mountain horse sportive's in a child size done up but wouldnt want to buy them cos they WILL burst!! Is this a market that could make me a millionaire.... !

The only ones i have ever found to fit as i have very soild calves and need an extra wide short are these

You get them cheaper if conact "barnstomers equistrian" but they arent the website. I only use mine for riding and have one pair with laces at the ankle for shows, dont think they will last forever if used as yard boots but for saddle work there great

Made to measure not an option? Or boots and gaiters?
I've got a pair of dublin ones in a narrow width (have skinny-ish calves) and they're not too long now that they've dropped a bit. I'm 5'3 and most other boots felt too long. Not sure how wide their wide size is though.

Well Im 5 foot 5 and have the same problem. I can get away with Mountain Horse ones - just - I do need heel lifters in them, but they are great for day to day etc. In my competing days on The Oryx 1 (geddit!) I was a little bit larger than I am now, and ended up with a fab pair of made to measure boots from Davies Riding Boots. They cost me over £600 and are totally brilliant. I have been told they will last me over 30 years and they are well worth it, if a little bit looser around the calves.

What about trying childrens gaiters in the widest size?

Good luck! Itss an impossible task, I am 5'3 and have struggled, had to get them bigger in the foot.
I was talking to a girl who owned a tack shop who said it was impossible to get boots that fit anyone, there is a gap in the market, she said she could get none to fit her, and she is probably only a size 8/10, the only boots she sold that fitted perfectly she said was a very very thin and tall, and the just fitted her prefectly!!!
Who an earth do they make riding boots for??? Obviously not people who ride!!

Yers, I know! My leg is very short from knee to ankle and every single blimmin boot I try on in the shop won't fit, far too long! Awful! Sooo, in frustration I try a children's size, result, can't even get it on coz too tight round the calves! GRRRHHHHHH!!

Come on you boot/clothing manufacturers: there are a significant quantity of us here who just are not bean-poles and we need to look good on our horses. As I'm a leisure rider I can get away with joddy boots & leggings, but I don't know what I'd do if I wanted to compete or whatever. Nightmare!
