I am looking to buy a pair of nice leather riding boots and have settled myself on a pair of Cavallo boots- wither the Winner or Winner plus model-the only difference between them being that one has a zip and one doesn't!The only problem is that no-one in Republic Ireland seems to stock them-have tried all the major saddlery places & it looks like I'm going to have to order online-This is terrifying me as the boots are not returnable when they are custom made, which the company are recommending because of my sizes!!!Terrified I 'll pay my €450 and they won't fit!!has anyone nought leather riding boots online?Recommend Cavallo's or not?Was also looking at Koenigs but they're a bit pricier!

I have cavallo long leather boots - really like them. They are fairly old now - bought them off my dressage instructor about 5 years ago, and she must've had them 10 before that... they still look good though. I have long thin legs and they fit well.

We actually got our local saddler to insert a zip, and to make the ankles a lot narrower for me - this adjustment cost about £70 and was well worth it.

So perhaps if the boots weren't a perfect fit, you still have the option of making some further adjustments if required.

Thanks a million for your help! Have sent an e-mail to them so hopefully they will be able to help!

I bought Cavallos while I was living in Ireland, I think they came from Tony Goodwin & Sons in Mulhuddart (who also made my lovely dressage saddle that I can't bring myself to sell even though it doesn't fit anything that I have now!) This was about 12 years ago mind, may be worth giving them a call.

Wow-thanks a million-actually dressage saddle will be next thing on the budget so might chat to them about that too! Thanks! One of the larger Irish equestrian suppliers claimed they stopped stocking Cavallos because they were too expensive........I could get them from Germany for €450, and the same company had a pair of boots on their website for €550...Logic?!

Hi,

I recently brought a pair of Brogini riding boots from Dogwood London. They were really helpful there and said they accept returns if the boots did not fit. Lucky for me they did!!!

They also said they did a made to measure boot for Sergio Grasso, Brogini, De Niro, Konigs and Cavallo.

Check out their riding boot page , they have some good pics and descriptions...lol who needs shops ay!
