Tack cleaning. (been done before, but a long while ago methinks?)

Just been doing mine (gets a strip down every Sunday) and musing after speaking to a friend this morning, who only wipes hers over on rare random occasions.

I rinse my bit every time I ride, if saddle cloth is sweaty/grubby this gets changed too, a quick wipe over every other time and a full strip weekly through summer time. Full strip done every 2 weeks through winter as am down to possibly 4 x riding a week then.

I suppose some will laugh at me, but my horse is clean, therefore my tack is clean - and of course by stripping it, I can check the stitching etc for safety each time :)

The bit is always rinsed off after each ride, and the bridle is usually wiped down with saddle soap too as Lola is grey so it always looks icky! My saddle gets cleaned every other week or so, and the cloth is swapped whenever it looks too gross.

I do what you do . . . and that's why my tack is soft, supple and in good nick. Oh, and none of it has EVER seen oil of any kind . . . awful stuff.

Always the bit, sometimes the leather has a wipe over, sometimes not, depends how much time/daylight I have - no electricity at our field so I have to clean tack outside, not conducive to a full strip. Today all three have been ridden and I have sprayed over all three bridles with Belvoir No 1 to clean, then saddle soaped them but they weren't stripped, done the same to OH's horses breast plate, stripped the numnah off my saddle and wiped it of with No 1, no need to clean it. My bare minimum is the bit and wash off the girth, remove damp numnah.
 
Mine gets wiped over pretty well every time and stripped at least once a month at the moment - mostly because it's all brand new :p In the past, with second hand stuff that had seen better days, I could probably have commented "What on earth is tack cleaning?!".
 
My tack gets cleaned every time I use it - so 3-4 times a week at the moment.

I love tack cleaning. I think it comes from doing the tack cleaning on a Saturday and Sunday at the riding school- 60 sets of tack both days, plus full liveries every day.

I have been known to clean everyone's tack, if I have been in the mood!
 
Wipe down once a week or if muddy. Fuller clean once a month but confess I don't strip down, just move it about to get into the covered bits ! Haven't done a full strip down for a while.
 
Bit is cleaned after every use.
Tack given a wipe each week and then full clean, stripped down, scrubbed-conditioned-polished when needed, which is about once a month.

Have a 'posh' bridle too which has occasionally been used as everyday while the other is in bits soaking in the conditioner.

Saddle gets a wipe over once a week or if it has been rained on.
 
My western saddles are stripped and fenders set about once a year. My English saddles are stripped and cleaned about 4 times a year unless competing and then it's before every show.
 
My trash tack gets cleaned when I'm feeling inspired - it's an old VSD saddle, and a bridle made from several different bridles, which lives in the car and fits both horses. My dressage saddle gets cleaned pretty much every time I use it, as does Alfs nice bridle. I wash bits every time they are used, and have a good old pick at the stitching on the trash tack regularly, so that I know its safe.

I use Renapur leather cleaner, followed by their leather care balm.
