My beautiful tb x love nothing more than jumping round a cross country course and if i do say so myself we arnt too bad! But when i compete or even go to my local course all i get is 'Whats wrong with your horses back!?' and 'Your so cruel riding it with a conformation like that!'

My horse is sway backed but this doesnt affect her in anyway what so ever! Granted she looks a bit dipped but a saddle pad corrects that in no time. Yeah i would exspect it while out on a hack but from horsey people at a show? They should know what a sway back is surely?!

Anybody else get comments about there horse and the way you handle them by people who dont have a clue?

Rant over! My anger is vented

I want to see pictures too :-) Is it quite extreme? Ah don't worry what they think, they probably just don't understand and will feel silly when they one day learn!

They are probably just jealous that you are better than them

See, I really don't understand all the 'jealousy' comments on here

Is it not as likely that people are genuinely concerned about the horse's welfare? If someone asked me 'what's wrong with my horse's back' I would reply that it was a conformation fault and that she was fit, happy and sound to work. A friend of mine has a horse who moves very oddly and often gets questions; it's virtually always people who don't know/are less experienced and they are happy to have it explained to them. She also has a letter from her vets in the box in case it is queried by officials :)

OP I understand why you are ranting, but I would personally rather someone approached me if they thought there was something 'wrong' with my horse :) If you explain, then they will be unlikely to ask the next person :D Of course there will always be the odd person who will be out to cause trouble but they're easy enough to ignore IME.
