Leaving DIY Livery

I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on this situation. It’s concerning a friend who does not use social media etc.
She kept her 3 horses on DIY and was asked to find somewhere else to keep her horses, this came completely out of the blue. Finding somewhere suitable was differcult as one horse does not do well on a larger yard and can’t see other horses being brought in from the field without completely losing the plot. No time limit was put on the leaving date and we searched quite literally everywhere locally to find somewhere without success, she lives and has her business in the area.
One afternoon the husband came down to speak to her and got verbally very aggressive, she rang me in floods of tears. He said he needed the stables as he was going into livestock and was going to make loads of money and said when the deal came off she would have 7 days to leave or he would sell the horses. She put the horses out 24/7, cleared and washed the stables apart from one which had a dirt base and took most of her stuff away. She went in the next day to find that they’d taken her hay and used it to bed down a load of sheep in the stables. They’ve continued to charge her for use of these stables for the last month even though sheep are in them and are now saying they are going to invoice her for their time to wash the dirt stable and clear up hay/straw that was dragged everywhere by the sheep. We found somewhere temporarily for the horses and they have moved but she’s still getting messages from the yard owner. Can they still charge the full wack for the livery when they are using the stables and can they invoice for clearing up a mess that they’ve made? It’s been a horrible situation, all they care about is money and seem to just sue everyone who crosses them. Any questions, I will try to answer and help/advice gratefully received. Thank you

No, of course they can't. She needs to counter their texts with a demand for payment for her hay.
Goodness knows a) why they brought their sheep in, sheep don't do well inside
b) how they think they are going to make a fortune from sheep when no-one else does!

Then she should block any contact with the idiots and get on with enjoying her horses.

They are not really “country people”

Well that's pretty obvious!!!

I think she needs to remind them that a) she has done everything they asked of her, b) she moved out when asked and c) she has paid in full for the time she was there. My final sentence to them would be "Having met all your demands I will not be enforcing my entitlement to a refund for my hay which you appropriated, or your use of my stable during the period for which I was still paying. I will no longer be entering into any further communication with you on this matter."

Does she have a written contract with them? As this would be first port of call. I imagine it says something about notice and use of the stables.

I would definitely tell her to send a bill for her hay!

They haven't even had the sense to do their research, either! I suggest that she simply stands back and watches them make a complete mess of their new venture. She needs to be ready to ring Defra/RSPCA when it becomes obvious that they know nothing about sheep and their care.
