I am planning to purchase one of the above, to run on battery for strip grazing. Can anyone recommend a good one? Seems to be a lot of choice but one I have looked at in shop was ery flimsy.
You can't go wrong with a Hotline unit, built much more sturdily than some other brands and have decent wires and clips too, The Shrike unit runs off 2 D cell batteries and will do upto 800mtrs of fence, or the Hobby runs from a 12v battery and does around 4km of fence, very reliable unit too. The Gemini range is flexable as it can run from both mains and battery.....2 year warrenty too (and no I don't work for hotline, but having sold these for 10 years and having very few back can vouch for their quality!)
Another vote for Hotline, my local electric fence expert man says it's the only make he'd recommend now. I got one a few months ago and am really pleased with it.
In all the years I have had it, my old hotline has only let me down once, and was quickly and easily fixed by a local electrician.
Would buy another should the need arise. I run mine off a seriously heavy duty car battery, and only need to charge it every couple of months.
