Hi all,

I am going down to Lee Valley tonight for an assessment lesson – they look/sound pretty good on web and phone but obviously no way of knowing until you get there and jump on! I know that most places roll out a schoolmaster and kid instructor for assessments so doesn’t actually give a very good impression of lessons etc - does anyone ride there, specifically in inter/advanced group lessons, and would you recommend it?

I've ridden since I was tiny - 18 years odd - and looking to get back into it following about a year off, but don't just want to plod around in circles - I'd like somewhere that at least does some lateral work in lessons and has a half decent set of jumps!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Wow! What are the chances. I didn't teach you - I think Kerridge did. Miss Byrne here but you might not remember! Hope all is well! :)

Small world eh? Kerridge did indeed teach me and yes of course I remember you - didn't know you were horsey too! That'll teach me to use my full name when posting on forums..!

JFTD - never played horseball but have bombed around on a few polo ponies in my time - any similarities?

Hi there, I go to Lee Valley and love it. The instructors are all very friendly and good at explaining things. I remember a few years ago during an adult beginners lesson we started doing basic lateral work, so they do push you and I've found myself progressing nicely there. I think the adult jumping lessons are in the evening but you'd have to check on that. The horses are mostly great but as with all riding schools there are one or two which need a bit of encouragement! All in all it's a good RS. Enjoy!

Very happy to say that after my intro on Monday (on a very lovely boy named Jubilee) I will definitely be going back! Great value for such an excellent set up especially within London. Lovely 40m indoor school, good facilities and nice horses - I was impressed!
