hope someone can help i have a light weight show cob and at the moment hes suffering terrible with mites behind his knees . the vet has given him 2 injections 7 days apart it cleared up for all of around 2 weeks and its come back hes been chewing and itching his legs the last couple of days iv been puting vasaline on to stop the flies getting to them and they do look a bit better but has eneyone eney better idears
 
My welsh section C suffers with this. Like you vet injected her but I also had to shampoo all over one with iodine based scrub they prescribed (sorry, no idea what it was) and then wash her legs daily for 2 weeks with the same stuff.

Worked miracles and totally cleared it up.

Vet also suggested clipping off her feathers, which we did, but I suppose this really isn't an option for you if you show her :(
 
Frontline worked for my boy, IMO it's better than the injections as it repels them as well as kills them. He now has a treatment about once a month to kkep them at bay. I order the spray off eBay from America, its cheaper and you don't need a prescription for it, but it does take a while to get here!

Someone recommended using a Dectomax injection 3 times a year, I'm going to try it although it's not licensed for horses!
