Hi all- I’m going to be travelling my horse for PSD surgery shortly- about an hour.
I’m looking for advice as to what to put on his legs for support but keeping legs cool at the same time. Experience/ suggestions please. TIA

Speak to your vet to see if they recommend anything although I would suspect that the advise would be to not put anything on. Other than ice boots I don't know what you could put on a horse's legs to keep them cool.

Leave them with nothing on. It’s the best way to keep legs cool.

What sort of support did you want?
Hi SOS- I normally don’t use anything but was thinking it might be an idea to support tendons/ligaments in this case? I will ask the surgeon too.

No standard/off the shelf boot can support tendons and ligaments I’m afraid! If your horse will be uncomfortable travelling (which they may well be with PSD issues), Ask the vets about pain relief or potentially sedation. Unlikely they will want you to give either pre op though. :)

It is impossible to boot or bandage tightly enough to offer support. I have run rehab yards for many years and we travel everything from the vet hospital to me in overreach boots all round, and nothing else.
