Okay so who puts them on their horses then, to keep legs warm. I always used to put thermatex wraps on my old horse to keep warm and for stiffness. Thinking about putting them on my younger version he is only 9 tho. Am i being to much of a wimp thinking he is getting cold legs and no they are not clipped but he does not get a thick coat.

We always use Thermatex leg wraps on ours every night in winter, young or old, clipped or unclipped. They have to stand for hours on end instead of moving around in the field, so we just think they help with warmth and circulation. Also we never hose legs off, just pop the Thermatex on and - touch wood - ours never ever get mud fever when lots of other horses at the yard do.

I use them most days after hosing and drying legs, have a grey and very muddy field!! Its my mud fever remedy and so far its worked for me. Also it stops his legs filling at night. Horsey's legs are not clipped and he is only 8, so maybe I'm being being wimpy too?!

def use them in the stable, especially for cliped legs or those that have to be hosed.

good for circulation and stopping them filling

id recommend equi-chaps

Personally, I would rather use normal stable bandages, since they avoid the pressure points that can often arise from using velcro straps for any real length of time. Plus four bandages work out much cheaper to buy

I've used them for years to stop Thellys clip growing back so quick, although she wears the Morpheus ones which are like the old style square travel boots with fur lining, they're great.

Used them for year instead of bandages - no realy reson now as horse at home not full livery so I don't worry about how they are put on. Mine wears them all the time overnight and his legs don't fill - never had a problem with pressure areas with them although I have once from a bandage (that the vet put on and horse tried to chew off - pressed on his pissiform bone for 2 hrs and it's now bald!)

I have used thermatex wraps for years..they are excellent...never had any trouble (pressure) - excellent for filled legs and drying off.
Also I love the rugs too...brilliant for every occasion!!!

I use equilibrium stable chaps all round on my QH mare with arthritis and they made a huge difference.

Use FAL Silver stable boots on my arab's (white socks) hinds and they healed up her MF last year and stopped her legs filling. So far this year no MF!

My TB has stable bandages, but when I get some space on the plastic will be getting stable chaps for her too.

I use thermatex wraps on my veteran mare - to keep her legs nice and warm on cold nights. Thermatex wraps are great - the cordura outer ones are best though.
