We have three small business s 18 months age we sold lease on one and advised all the service suppliers to change over to new leaseholder. It appears that one of the suppliers was missed although we are sure we phoned them. They have been taking phone rental out of our account for last year.I have supplied proof of change of ownership but they refuse to refund money overpaid as new lease holder has gone bankrupt and they cant bill him.
Is it worth going to solicitor for sum of £900 or is it our fault for missing overpayments. ?

Issue a debt claim for the monies owed.

I f you cant pay for legal advice go to the cab they will help you cant be expected to pay the shortfall for the company going bust, and check your bank statements more often you will be surprised how often you are charged for things you shouldnt be even if not to that extent.

hmm in some leases (business ones) you ARE responsible if you have a lease and sublet and they default, I really think unless you are prepared to write it off you do need to invest in proper legal advice not forum stuff....

Strong words for a supposedly friendly forum:confused:,I have invested in proper legal advice but not prepared to write something off if we have chance of collecting through no fault of our own.Forum stuff is often helpful with legal matters especially the decision to pursue a debt which we should not have been responsible for.

If you didn't cancel your account then I would have thought you'd be liable!
Its a pain we made phone call to change liability but seems to have been missed their end and at same time bank stopped sending statements.Just generally over looked with stress of the new tenants going under:(.Looks like phone call to cab first then solicitors if we have case.Just trying to avoid another costly solicitor bill .
As we use same company for another business it was easily missed.:o
