horse related, but ive had a general form of judgement or order come through and wondederd if any one could explanine a couple of things.

OH is a solicitor, he says "sounds like you have been sued in the County Court and the Claimant has obtained Judgment against you presumably for a sum of money and costs. Would need more details to help further (PM if you prefer)"

um.. its ref a previous vets, paper work sent back to courts i disputed, fairly serious, failed to diagnose twice, and a horse nearnly got pts.

what does the order meen .. do i need to turn up on the day?

Having received paperwork of this kind I think it would be better for you to go & see a solicitor (I think the first half hours consultation is free, or used to be) or see Citizens Advice, That way your letter etc can be examined & it can be established exactly what it is & what your best course of action should be. Good Luck

You do not need to turn up when you receive a summons (which will have come from the legal system, not the vet - the vet will have put the claim in and the court will have decided whether or not to send out an order) but it is better to be there to put your case forward. You can however, just write and dispute the claim, and the judge will make the decision without you there anyway.

Sorry you are having this problem. A summons may or may not lead to a CCJ, which will usually go on your credit record for up to 6 years and you will have to pay set amounts monthly or in large sums over a period of time, if the judge deems you liable.

I have never had a CCJ but we brought several against our builder.

ive already had that bit, and i disputed it which is when i got the second letter., yesterday, general feeling is i must attend... bugger bugger bugger.. grrrrr ive never been to any sort of court/hearing before!

oh well i guess i need a solicitor.. again.. bugger bugger bugger

You've had the CC Claim form and responded in defense rather than admission. They have not withdrawn the claim and have now issued a summons. There will be a hearing and if found to be liable, you may receive a CCJ.

fab! thanks for being the bearer of good news.. grrrr damn vets! still ive got this far so wont be giving up just yet.

Is it something in the air all this sueing or threatening to sue?
