And don't know why. It is fully charged and is attached to a single line of thin electric rope going around the top of a post and rail fencing. Nothing touches it to short it out. It always used to last a couple of weeks running the same rope, but a much longer distance of it. I'm using the same energiser. The battery went unused for many months recently, but it has lasted longer since its been back in use. It's one of those with lots of round circles on top with crosses in (very technical!). Any idea why it is draining so quickly? It's only a couple of years old

Have you wet your earth stake? If your horses are touching it and the earth is dry, the energy will be dispersed rather than returning to the unit. They won't feel much either. Otherwise, I'd check it's charging fully - maybe use a different charger and see if that helps otherwise you might need a new battery

Probably run dry. The round holes are so it can be topped up with distilled water.
If left dry for too long, it will need replacing, but worth topping up and trying to recharge it.

Yup I agree with fallen angel it's probally dry .If it is is worth topping it up with distilled water and seeing if it will revive but you probally will need to replace it .
They don't like being recharged on a high setting best to do it on a trickle setting overnight and check water regularily .

I bought some solar panels off ebay, they cost 9.99 each, they are brill (when its sunny) attach to the battery and they will keep it charged, and on a very sunny day they have charge a flat battery..

How do I put water in it? I was told it was a sealed battery and have been using that setting on my charger

You open those round circles with the crosses on (2p piece is useful for that) and check each chamber, remember to use distilled water if they need filling.
