Hi all

Has anyone tried the Lemieux fly masks? I've heard the sizing come up big, my horse usually has full size and my shetland extra small. If I buy fly masks I'm hoping spring will come around fast!

They come up small my Arab's have the bug eye pull on ones and they are full size, in other makes they would normally need a cob size, they didn't fair well either Arabi destroyed his pretty quick ?

I actually think most of there stuff comes up small my head collars are full as well cob size were too small and the cob ears won't fir them either.

They definitely come up small. I bought one last year and had to use it on a different horse from the one intended. I also found that they rub across the poll where the elastic bit is. All in all i was very disappointed in them.

They are stretchy though so forgiving. I rate the bug eyed ones. Only ones my horse cannot rub off or get others to remove for him. the Lemiex have eye bits in right place, I found on multiple horses others dont.

They are stretchy but he did manage to wreck it fairly quick and I kept finding it in the field next door, the horses next door were obviously pulling off his head when they play over the fence?

I found the elastic over the poll gripped my mare's head and caused a scab to form which eventually came off with a lot of forelock which has now grown white hair. I shall now buy her a different make with no elastic over the head area.

I liked the quality of mine but it just didn’t fit. That was a medium on a 14hh pony. I had the one with ears and the nose part.

My experience was the opposite, the lycra mask was the ONLY one that stayed on. They arent the strongest. But living out and with it over his eyes, that is probably not a bad thing. I did mend a few over last summer. I thought for under 15GBP, staying on and not rubbing was pretty good.

Thanks all, maybe I'll stick with the equilibrium ones. Liked the look of lemieux and the uv protection being 75%, saying that I could always buy one to try on.

We bought a Le Mieux fly mask and it was totally bizarre in terms of fit and got sent back, pretty much as you have found! We are currently using a Shires mask for our Appy prone to Uveitis but we have stronger ones for the sunnier months. Kensington Uviators are good!
