2 questions in this post I suppose, kind of following on from the one about the mare not getting on with the saddlecloth.

First is; does anyone else’s horse not get on with the LeMieux ears? Mine has been fine with all fly veils previously over the years, but takes a dislike to his (brand new) LeMieux one to the point of shaking it off. Can’t understand why other than the suede type material on the ear parts?

Secondly; why is this particular brand so popular? Especially at the price and of the quality. I’ve read the saddlecloths are pretty grim on the inside...

I do have their wraps and they are fab for my guy as he’s getting older, I really rate them.

Mine used to be ok with them but now I can’t use them as not only has his bridle fallen off twice whilst hacking he’s also started to shake his head when wearing them. I think they are a bit narrow between the ears and a bit narrow at the base of each ear. I think mine shrank a bit when I washed them.

I haven’t found the saddle pads to be shoddy.

I haven't ever used Lemieux, really fancied trying a set but I have heard about a lot of horses disagreeing with them and I'm a bit worried to spend that much of a saddle cloth that my mares might not like. Will be following this thread with interest.. :\

Not a fan personally, the ears are sized MUCH smaller than the likes of Esk/Eurostar (full is slightly too large in these whereas large LM were too small and I also think they shrank again in the wash before I sold them).

Saddle cloths feel too stiff for my liking too and I've seen various reports of their rubbing the horse & disintegrating in the washing machine. Their Stealth XC boots I loved the look of but when I found a pair in the flesh I was thoroughly disappointed.

I do however have a sheepskin half pad and a set of support boots that I'm happy with the quality of.

Never had an issue, Kira's competition ears are LM but they aren't suede ones, they are a lighter weight material.

I also prefer Esky ones in general though, I think they fade less.

I do find the binding of the pads rubs a bit, I think it's just because they are so firm? I have one for shows because it keeps its shape so well but all my home pads are eskadron.

I have found they don't fit my horse at all, I don't have an issue with other brands but the ear holes are too close together and the ears aren't very large.
She doesn't have overly large ears either.
I have found the LM quality to be deteriorating whilst the price seams to be increasing, they used to be pioneers in technology not just "pretty" colours!
I am finding Shires quality and price really impressive, especially for ears and rubber over reach boots!

The ears came up pretty small....Diva has big ears, admittedly, but at just barely scraping in at 15.0 hh she needs 'large', which was quite expensive.
The pad she disliked so much has been stolen by the cat as a really really posh bed now though.....every cloud I guess? :p Heck of a lot of money for a cat bed though!

I was just about to post that! Honestly, just because she prefers you to me .... ;)

Huh. Maybe this is why I haven't had a problem with the fit, I expected to buy L or XL because even my tiddlers are all full size around the tops of their heads. My 14.2 welsh wears L or XL in LM and Full size eskadron :)
