Hi guys
Can anyone help me to get my horse to lengthen his stride?
Out hacking he can be left behind by smaller ponies as he's so chilled out hacking but he's very short coupled and so his strides can be very choppy. He's naturally quite active behind & isn't lazy, he has plenty of energy, he's just quite economical!
As soon as I put a bit more leg on he'll trot forwards which I'm reluctant to stop as I want him to be sharp off my leg. I've tried varying amounts of pressure with my legs but I still find it very hard to get him to stride out more.
There is no physical reason why he can't (unless he naturally can't cover the distance in less trides!?) - all usual checks done.
Help please!
