I was expecting it to be a long haul when I started officially horse hunting Tuesday evening, but subject to vetting I bought 1 this afternoon! 14.2 cob, only 4 so green, but has accelerator & brakes & seems sensible. Past the traffic test with flying colours on a busy road with busses etc.

I went along to a dealer with several cobs the right sort of size, with a full load of scepticism on board, as much to get the first viewing out of the way. First had a small lump in her armpit. TBH it was quite possibly a bite but having just lost a mare with large & aggressive sarcoids I wasn't even prepared to think about it. Shame as she was pretty & would have matched son's horse nicely. Couple were a bit too big for me. One I liked on the website had been kicked in the field so she wasn't available. Loved the next one. I hadn't even noticed him on the website, but just checked & he is there!
5 weeks ago when Pickle was pts I decided not to get another horse of my own but I missed it too much. OH got a job on Tuesday which meant I could start looking. Did phone a few but they were all sold or unsuitable/broken. Made an appointment to see one & the name rang a bell so I did a search on here & then cancelled!

I think I just hit lucky & I wan't fussed about mare/gelding or colour, just temprement. Last time we bought it was 2 months on intensive searching. Need to organise Vet today - it was gone 5 by the time we finished yesterday.
