Trying to find a instructor in essex, the prices vary from £10 for £75 an hour. What is a reasonable price to pay considering i currently want to work on basic dressage not really advanced, also how can i tell how good an instructor is or at least get some idea before paying. Haven't had to look for an instructor for a long time always seem to of found me.
 
I don't know how any instructor can charge less than £30.00 per hour. Try finding a Centered Riding Instructor - they teach classical equitation in a very horse friendly way allowing the horse free movement whilst giving the rider confidence and clarity of the aids.

Have a look.on the bhs register of instructors. you can check they are qualified and also insured! If they are not on the bhs register I would query their qualifications with bhs first. I am BHSAI and charge £20 for 1 hour private lesson. I have to charge for fuel tho if I'm travelling more than 10 miles. A bhsii or above could charge a lot more. British dressage also have a list of approved accredited trainers so u could try their website also x
 
I am having the same problem I am in East sussex, I have tried a couple of people one cost £45.00 for 45 mins but he is a good dressage trainer and kept me and the horse at it but £45.00 every couple of weeks is a lot of money. Then I tried another person who charged £30.00 for 45 mins but wasnt very impressed so have to keep looking, I took the horse to them in both cases and they were both teaching all day in the same place.
 
I pay £10 for half an hour, £20 for the full hour for a high quality lesson, however, I live in lincolnshire where everything is much cheaper as there seems to be more horses than people and everyone who has a menage teaches. :rolleyes:

I'll second that!! - everything is cheaper when it comes to horses in Lincolnshire and I've seen an hours lesson as cheap as £10.
 
Thanks it would seem i live in the wrong area. I have found an instructor who i have a lesson with in a few weeks. Not sure of her qualificatons only spoken to her thru facebook but hse is a lady form local compition circuit who always looks amazing and come highly recomended, so we will see but at £30 for 45 mins i think im in the wrong job. How long does it take to train to become an instructor.
