If I told you Andy isn't full tb what breed do you think he is crossed with?
We have now found out after lots of digging and I think it might suprise some of you!

Anyway had a fab lesson today, did a tricky pole work exercise with Andy. Well I say tricky, its hard for him because of the lack of muscle. It was basically 3 poles on a circle with 1 short stride between each. He did it quite well but not too great, just lots of practice needed.
Him over the poles:

Then we swapped bridles and onto the jumping. We were working on the quality of the canter as I've been having difficulties with uprights. We concluded that I let the canter 'fizzle out' into uprights which makes him change rythm and jump flat which results in a pole.

When I say 'fizzle out' he is still going pretty quick so I had to use LOADS of leg today which felt so weird as he was so wizzy today. It worked quite well though and we got some nice moments.

I've also been working on giving a bit more with my hands but in some of the pictures it looks like I'm over doing it a bit. The jumps stayed little today as we were working on the canter more then anything.

I'm a bit worried that here he crossed his front legs, is this going to be a problem? If so how would I fix it or is it one of those things you live with?

It was all going very well until someone decided it would be really good fun to take off a stride early resulting in me getting left behind and jabbing the poor guy in the mouth. Poor Andy I felt awful afterwards but he was fine and then carried on to jump normally.

CC welcome as always, and don't forget you need to guess his breed ;) :D

I should add that he is 14.2ish so he wouldn't be crossed with anything big :p

His face is a picture in the first one I think he looks inquisitive in it, and they say horses don't pull facial expressions. :)

i think its because there are too many photos :S they keep doing that, its so annoying!!
looking amazing though! is he really only 14.2HH? :O he looks much bigger. is it ISH or something crazy like arab :P

Thats so stupid! I'm not just posting pictures of him looking pretty I'm posting pictures for cc which you don't get in picture gallery because no one hardly comes in here. HHO really annoys me sometimes.

Well he's slightly over 14.2 but has a JMB at 148 so we call him that. Not ISH or Arab either, keep the guesses coming :)

Looking good :) is he crossed with a native of some sort? or an arab somewhere as he is quite fine?

ETA just seen no arab I'm going for native possibly a small one

Your all getting closer, it is a native.

Just got PM from TFC apparently its so people on mobile devices can see the thread because of bandwidth! I don't have a problem on picture threads with my phone.

His facial expressions are lovely, except the one where I'm removing his teeth, poor sod.

The P2 is fab! I love it, almost got off without un-doing today though :o

I think Dartmoors can have them too, not 100% sure though as don't have much to do with the breed other then the fact I rode a little dark bay one when I was 8 :p

Thread still seems to be in NL, or am I going mad?

He looks good!

Is he crossed with a Dartmoor?

ETA have just seen you already said Dartmoor above - oops!

He's lovely! Wouldn't have guessed Dartmoor. Just to add, some of them do indeed have meally(sp?) muzzles although it's not such a breed characteristic like it is for the Exmoors. Definately a lovely cross though

Spiral- thats because I asked TFC very nicely that if I edited it would be moved back. So no your not going mad :) good guess though.

I'm suprised by how big he is though, although I don't think he is half and half, I think he has more tb then dartmoor. Not sure about that though.
