Lessons with Anna Ross-Davies

Been reading about her in here (half way down page) and quite a few other places recently wondered if anyone had had lessons. Sounds very good and want t recommend to one of my owners.

Personally didnt work well for my youngster too much pressure for him- and he was working at elem.

ah that's interesting. what age was the horse?

5 yo stallion. just blew his brain.

Might work better for older more established horses but not for me again

Hmm,interisting what people leave out isnt it?

She is very good,but like most trainers not for everybody/horse.
For those she clicks with she is fab,for those she doesnt a waste of money.

Why not go along for a lesson and see how you feel before booking a course fo lessons?

She does some clinics i would recomend riding on one of those first and see if it works for you.

thanks everyone and no i won't be taking a stallion, a 5 year old but a good nice steady one. Will consider the clinic option first now. I do know what you mean not every trainer will work for everyone and the reason i asked as it's nice to have a bit of background.

Finding the right trainer can take ages....... Give her a go and see how you get on.....

Giving her a go tends to be easier said than done: in November her clinics were all booked up until the end of March, I was having normal lessons with her (booked at least 2 months in advance), and my last two were cancelled due to her other commitments. She is only going to get busier in the build up to HK....

yeah and that article says she's in germany at least 3 days a week with ulla so it might be a difficult one.

I try and get to Anna once a month and she's really sorted me out, can't recommend her enough

Her teaching definitely works for me but I went with an eventer so maybe she put less pressure on him?

It's rather difficult to arrange for lessons though! I have just managed to get next one in March only to find out my transport might not be available

Have to say that I've always found her to be very sympathetic to the horse, she definitely pushes the rider but that's the way it should be!

If you are having trouble getting a lesson with Anna, have you thought of giving Ali Berman a try instead? Ali brings on Anna's young horses until they reach a level when Anna can start competing them - which I think is Medium. She trains with Anna and has done for years. She has really helped me with my boy - she is quite tough on the rider, straight talking and has high standards - certainly gave me the kick up the arse I needed! You can have a laugh with her as well though - but don't expect to be molly-coddled. Her contact details are on the Patchetts website or send me a PM.
