Hi, does anyone have some pics they can post please of rotties with tails.

After losing our bitch last year it might soon be time to think of another to keep the boys occupied, but if I'm being totally honest I don't like them with tails and it's putting me off considering another rottie.

Convince me otherwise :D

Dont have Rotties just Dobes and like you had always had them docked until I had my current 2. It does give them a totally different look and I just cant make up my mind which I prefer but I can see the benefits a tail brings, balance etc.

it`s a masta one from old dairy saddlery,it has black fur inside.
i have a friend in my dog-walking group who makes made-to measure.she is very good too.

Thank you Cahill, he is lovely :)

I love the first picture, he looks so handsome & in the coat picture he's almost questioning whether we are looking at his coat! Mine have Masta ones too as I found them a better fit for my big boy than Rambos.

I do still find they look strange with a tail though, I think it's what you're used to tbh. I've had rots for years and I just can't get used to their tails - maybe it's because they're quite thick.

Dobiegirl I was admiring your post/pics earlier because if we don't get another rottie I think we may look at Dobies. I did ring a prolific breeder a while ago to try and chat about the breed but she was so rude I never got chance! I posted on here at the time & I think you may have replied because she normally has a good reputation.

I think dobies suit a tail much more than rotties, they don't look out of place at all.

I too, find Rotties-With-Tails slightly odd and dare I say, unattractive:o But, if I loved the breed I could live with it. If one of mine was to lose a tail, I would still love her/him and. Aesthetics is nonsense anyway, a dog is a dog is a dog sans tail or with! :)

I think they look nice with tails ! I think it makes them look less angry.

A very good point. Rotties have a hard stare imo. To the uninitiated, their eyes can belie their true temperament. Whereas a full length dogs tail lets you know exactly how their feeling. :)

I think they look lovely with tails to be honest and i think it makes them appear a 'softer' dog if that makes sense? It's just something about a tail - dogs show a lot of personality through their tail I think.

I agree to some extent but I just don't like them.

Sorry if I'm offending anyone but they just don't look like a rottie to me, I think it makes them look more like a cross breed for some reason. Perhaps it's just that I've always had rotties without tails and that's how I think of them.

If I see a dobie with a tail it really suits it and I know it's a dobie, but sometimes I've looked twice at rots with tails thinking initially it's not a full rottie.

Oh shoot me now before I dig myself any deeper

Bang:D

From my perspective Ive found other dogs react different to my 2 with tails than the two who were docked, tails are easy to read by people and more importantly other dogs. My 2 docked Dobes often had dogs running up to them to try it on whereas(touch wood) my current 2 with tails are not seen as threatening.

As I said earlier I still cant make up my mind what I prefer docked or undocked so I dont find your opinion unreasonable.

I agree they look a bit weird but it's only because it's not what we are used to. In 20 years time this will look normal and 'old' photos of docked ones will look weird.

Besides, I can't stand having a dogs bumhole looking at me all the time so I much prefer undocked in general (don't like dogs with tails that curl up either for the same reason). Looking at dogs bumholes = not pleasant. So why do it when yo don't have to?
