My five year old has been going really well recently (won her last BN) but was a little spooky and slightly stressed in the ring.

I've been feeding her magnesium to take the edge off but now she seems really lethargic. I brought her in tonight and she just wasn't interested in her food at all, haylage or hard feed, which is incredibly unusual.

She's not distressed in any way, nor sweating. She's just standing in the back of her stable looking really exhausted. No symptoms to describe to the vet, her temperature is normal.

Just going back up to check on her now. It's so unusual shue's off her food! Could this be the magnesium? I'm thinking that's unlikely...

Hi I would be concerned that she is off her food if any of mine were not interested in food that would set alarm bells ringing I agree wouldn't of thought magnesium would do that , how is she now? X

Does she have free access to hay? Has she had plenty of salt and water?

No muscle pain?

Magnesium interacts with other minerals so by increasing one you can unbalance others, you need to do an as fed analysis on what you are feeding and make sure she is recieveing everthing she needs I particulary like www.feedxl.com

She could also be mentally tired she is young and if she has had a busy season might need a break.

^ This was what I was about to say. We gave one of our youngsters a few weeks off just chilling and on some higher energy mix. Made all the difference, bought him back into work, and he was all rejuvenated and full of beans again :)
