I had a great hack today :) Not once did I feel the urge to stick my middle finger up at a driver today! (I think I've only done that once, but I often feel the urge!)

They were all great, from slowing right down on a narrow lane, to giving us plenty of room and waiting behind us at a good distance ^^ It really makes my day when drivers are polite and courteous like that.

Have you had any good experiences with drivers recently? :)

I might be about to jinx myself now but TBH I rarely have bad experiences with drivers! Then again, my horse is a dream to hack out and couldn't care less about the majority of traffic so I don't get annoyed/upset if people don't slow down. I put plenty of hiviz on (I've got a hiviz coat, horse has a hiviz exercise sheet and sometimes boots too) and I usually eyeball every driver coming towards me. This is a tip I was given for cycling - make eye contact, it makes drivers see you as a "person" not just a "thing" in the way on the road. Mostly they slow down and I always thank them.

Very occasionally you get some ar£ehole who won't slow down or who drives far too close but I honestly don't tend to have that many problems. Maybe it's because our area is very horsey so they're usually used to it. The best ones IME are boy racers because they're so precious about their cars - they always slow down, always turn their music off and always thank *you*! :D

That's good. I always meet the idiots, on saturday I had a guy with a pony and trap come towards me flat out in pacing trot! He then hurled abuse at me for asking him to slow down (I had two children on ponies with me) cause he was exercising his 'race horse'!
