Lets hear it for the oldies !

My positively sprightly 18yo (will be 19 in March). She is most definitely *not* getting more sensible as she ages :D

This is my 17 year old mare - rescued at the age of 2 by her owner, completely wild, dangerous and scared to death which made her aggressive. With a LOT of work and patience she's become the most brilliant horse and I've shared her over the past 5 years :) Owner says I'm now her 2nd mum haha!
She got diagnosed with highest level Cushings 14 months ago.

Before she got ill...

My boy is a baby compared to some of yours, I hope he's still going strong at 44!

Shadow is 19, although still thinks he's 5! Always hooning around the field and gets most put out if he's not up front in a group!

Here are some piccies:

And why not she is gorgeous.
Both of mine are veterans now, Captain is 19 in May and very high mileage as an ex pro CDE horse. This is him just before Christmas

And Fany, who is 17 this June and is extremely low mileage, she can't understand why she has to work and Captain is retired, more or less.

My Connemara Eastlands Belt Knowe (Eric.) Will be 19 in May, but no one has told him - he's still pretty convinced that he's 4! However, stick a child on him and he acts his age.
We've owned him since he was 10 - bought as a plod, but after about 6 months of doing so we started to show him. Those who do VHS showing classes may have spotted him - you definitely would've seen our yard owner and his niece with the chestnut Welsh D stallion with white spots (everyone knows who he is as he's so easy to spot!)

It's not true that they slow down and become sane when they're older - they speed up and become idiots! :L

Mine is really young compared to all yours! She is 19 this year and a thoroughbred. A few people at our old yard thought she was a just backed 4 year old *rolls eyes*. She dfinitely thinks she is the way she acts, we were hoping she would show signs of slowing down just a bit by now so she becomes a bit easier to ride but no.
Took her for a gallop full blast over a huge flat field the other day and im sure she went the fastest she has ever gone!

And Flo's dad is still with us at 33 years old! They are both trak X arab. Trying to load a pic of daddy Akhir.. The toothless wonder who still thinks he's a 5 year old!

Here is the 33 year old job! Was once black now going very grey, but although a bit thin is still convinced he's a 5 year old!

This is my mare Snoopy, she is between the age of 23 to 28. We still hack out regular and go off for hours enjoying the views, she appears to be ageless in her attitude to work.
