I didnt realise just how much mine had changed till I saw the pictures side by side! The thin, scruffy looking cob is him the first day I got him home and the second one is him practising obstacles a few days ago

And the full picture shows just how much I adore him and how much pleasure he brings me!

how big is he? he is a beaut!

Thank you

He is only 16.3hh (17hh in his heels) which is on the small side for a male Suffolk but its the width of him that makes him seem even bigger. Stand him next to a 17hh+ hunter and he looks bigger than the hunter. He regularly catches his ears on the stable doorway and his favourite game is hitting his saddle against the doorway on the way in and out of the stable. I've ridden him bareback a couple of times and it's not easy because his shoulders push you back but its taught me so much about how to ride him better. He's only 7 and a half so I'm hoping we will have a lot of time together.

I have far too many pictures of mine to trawl through all of them looking for my favourites, so here's a recent picture of each of them that I like.

Sixpence in August, taking his role as a babysitter very seriously!

HiW4FE8.jpg

Tudor on Tuesday, showing us exactly what he'd spent his day doing (the zigzagging ropes were to keep him on the right side whilst we rebuilt the fence, and to stop him hopping backwards and forwards to 'help' :D).

c6JBFQz.jpg

Mary in July, just because she looks beautiful.

OcC9lo7.jpg

And baby Flower a couple of weeks ago, showing off the beard and fluffy ears that she's famed for! :D

I've so enjoyed seeing everyone else's ponies too!

Hopefully these links will work and they won't be too massive.

The first time I ever sat on the ginger one...

And a couple of months ago (I promise my hands weren't as fixed as they look in this, it's just a snapshot in time) he's since been treated for ulcers which has helped fix the bracing :)

We've still got plenty to work on, but I'm just happy I no longer look like I'm perching on the saddle! :D

I hope the photo works - always a bit tetchy from my phone. Photo 2 years old now but the difference in the leg size still cracks me up!

I was just about to comment about how much better you are sitting. I know you have worked very hard and its clearly paying off. Well done!

Thanks so much LW, it means a lot. I made the decision after losing Pops to put the money I had been spending on her livery into additional lessons for us, so we've been having two lessons a week since mid Feb and it's slowly been paying off. We've had a few setbacks as my gut feel over hind gut ulcers proved accurate so we've had to treat M for that. The upshot is I now have a horse that's a lot freer in his way of going, but the downside is he's clearly been uncomfortable for a while and spent so long compensating for it that he's incredibly locked through his back so I've essentially been re-teaching him how to work over his back properly with the help of my awesome trainer. It's a long road, but I'm confident we'll get there in the end.

Sorry for posting so much aha but I thought you guys may be interested to see this: first photo is True Grit (FR) aka Alfie, my mum's ex racehorse...

And this is his sire. Goldeneyev (USA) :

The only difference between them being Alfie has a small white sock on one hind leg! :O (well and some scars).

This photo sums him up in one shot, he does love a selfie. My job as his PA is to hold the phone and stop him eating it
