Let's see... your horses manes!

CG - I did it based on a tutorial for a 'waterfall braid' on human hair, it basically ended up being a running plait with just the top section of mane which is shorter and sticks out a lot normally.... I find it hard to get the plait tight and close to the crest with this amount of mane.. haha like this

The winter rug rubbed end of her mane.

Wish we could grow a big billowing mane like some of these beauties!

I also don't do wont do pulled manes
mine are all natural

scuse the little ones mane the top half has flopped over the wrong side

My old boy had the most awesome mane! I went through a phase of banding it in an attempt to tame it, but gave up after a while because it made no difference!!

Vanner, that is such a beautiful mane, everyone else has run off and hidden their mane pics in shame ;-) You definitely win the prize for most luxurious mane. Cookies, wine and horse treats coming your way :-D

Can I jump in and ask a quick question for those that are good at running plaits....
How do you get them to stay in? I do the plait ok, but one canter and it starts to all come apart, if we hack out its a right mess by the time we get back.

I do the plait and band it up at the bottom with one or two bands? Am I doing something wrong or is it just that I'm not pulling it all tight enough?

Do you put anything in it feathered? Brylcreme is quite good as makes it shiny! It may be your plait is the victim of the short flyaway bits too, damn them!

I always feel the need for my horses to have neat pulled manes. My tb hates it and for years we've battled to pull it. Now he's retired I've decided to leave him alone! Also I've always secretly liked natural manes!

L'Oreal style :D

Re: running plaits, they usually stay in well provided the mane is long enough and it's done reasonably tight enough. Might be that you need an extra couple of inches if it's coming out that easily. We never had a problem out hacking.
