So many horses are free or a few quid so thought it would be fun to see what you can get for a £ nowadays!

The piebald mare second left in my sig was a bargain basement pony of a lifetime. Safest, kindest viceless, jumps like a horse and was backed aged 16.

ETS: **Dies of cute** Those three little ponies are adorable!

Annette4 - I just LOVE your cow pony!!!

This was free, between myself and yard owners - they kept him, and I schooled him and we sold him on (the person we got him from knew we were going to do that when we took him). Just out of racing - a gentle soul, but very nervy...

And my horse of a lifetime Rebel - bought for £300 at the age of 12 - another ex-racer but a very straightforward horse.

Free to me; my beautiful PRE - abused, misunderstood and now happy, willing and no longer petrified of life: the beautiful soul (and yes, he has no tail).

My 12yr old ex-racer gelding Piper, gifted to me:

I own a load of other bargains, but just showing the freebies here! :D

Freddie bought by a friend from the horse sales, she felt sorry for him as he was in poor condition, she didn't really want him and did her bit for him, nurtured him and gave him a good start, then sold him to me for £1:D

I do not know how to post pictures - but I have had a couple of notable bargains
1. Gift horse (who cost £40K as a yearling) won 5 point-to-points for us, and given us many hours of fun in the hunting field and pleasure rides (though he is horrible to look after, and hack out I have to say - rought with the smooth.....)
2. I paid £1 for an unridable pony - who hunted with 12 year old daughter (as she was at the time), did PC pony, and then went on to be a good pony racer - and as of last season was still doing that - changing hands for masses of money each time (I have to say I made a very small profit when I sold him)
3. Bought a young pony for £150 - that within three years became the 'must have' pony club pony and was making telephone numbers at each exchange (again, I made a small profit when I sold him first - but certainly like to think did all the ground work!)
