i've just put in an offer on our dream house...

it would mean we could live our life exactly how we want to, with my horse at home, the kids could have little ponies, and my husband could do his 'self sufficiency' thing with his veg, pigs, sheep and trees...

it's what we've always dreamed of, so it's a huge step for us. we've chosen to do it now as my 12yr old son has fallen into a bad crowd already at school, and this has been our push to getaway and do it...

i cannot stress how important this is for us as a family. i'm also 6 months pregnant... so there is a degree of urgency too.

A few weeks ago we found one that we thought we could cope with (big project). sale fell through so i almost gave up... but then this new one appeared on the horizon and it's PERFECT.

so, come on everyone, cross your fingers, do your 'thang', think of me and my family, imagine us in our new house, send those VIBES our way...

let's test them out!

eeek! so excited i almost wet myself (well, i am preggers after all, it's almost obligatory!)

I would wish you luck but i am so jealous.......

You are about to live my dream and i would imagine a lot of other people’s dream on here.

Good luck hope it all works out.

Very best of good luck to you - (but like BFG I've got to admit to being very jealous as it's exactly what I would love to do myself one day).

We made a move like yours four years ago - I remember the feeling of knowing it would be perfect, but saw it slipping through our fingers several times. We finally got it though, have our horses at home, children riding and staying away from trouble - I still have to pinch myself every morning, and never take it for granted.

I will keep absolutely everything crossed for you.

it's a very hard world to bring kids up in, i think.

my son was so totally lovely, and kind and gentle until he started secondary school... where literally one friend has dragged him into trouble. last weekend resulted in items of furniture being thrown around my house by him. i have tried and tried to appeal to the lovely side of him, but a combination of hormones and a friend persuading him this is the right behaviour... means it's getting out of control...

to all those feeling jealous... i am swapping a beautiful georgian house that i bought as a shell, and that we've singlehandedly renovated (my husband bought a DIY book and plastered the entire house when he was 21yrs old...). i love my house. it's in a beautiful place. every morning the birds sing, and i have to pinch myself... but we're making the decision to try to 'rescue' my eldest and change our lifestyles completely. the house we're getting is a bit cheaper, but has land. it's beautiful bu less than half the size of the one we're currently in! and again, needs renovating! we're swapping the most gorgeous house in the world, for a lifestyle. we're going to have a few pigs and sheep (and then discover none of us have the heart to send them for slaughter) and a wood burning rayburn.

fingers crossed eh?

Best of luck, like other have said, you will be living the dream of most of us on here!

I have 2 young boys and even now my eldest (who's 8), finds the class clown- who is also a very "inappropriate" boy- hilarious and unfortunately gets into trouble cos he's influenced by him, so I am worried about him being more influenced by this child and others when he moves to comp. Hopefully we'll be able to nip anything in the bud but you never know. I agree with you completely, though, it is a very hard world to bring kids up in.

Congratulations on taking the plunge though- my hubby and I have talked about it but at the moment any affordable house/land is too far away from work

I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. The other house fell through so you could have this one.

*fingers crossed and everything else too*
