any lorry experts out there? does anyone have one of these lorries? if yes - how powerful do you find it. Is it a powerful enough engine for 3 large horses? I have been told that for 3 horses I need a 813 engine as minimum but have no idea how that relates to the DAF 130.

You will probably be over the weight in any lorry with 3 horses on ,if you only have a 7.5 ton license. We carry 2 as ours weighs 5.5 tons unladen and it is great. We never drive very fast as you never know when you are going to have to brake hard but travel at 50 very smoothly laden and never have a problem on hills.813 means 130 bhp ,for 3 large horses you need a 150 leyland but be careful about the weight unless you have an hgv license.Hope that helps ,off to show .bye

I have a leyland daf 813 and its great. Ive only had it about 6 months ( my first lorry) I can take 3 big ones, although have only taken two. It doesnt notice much of a difference between 1 or 2. The chap before me used to take 3 big ones and said it was no trouble and it didnt struggle. Mine is within the weight limit with 3 big ones too which is a bonus. I only ever want to take 2 so that wont be a problem, but you need to be careful about the weights and get it weighed before buying it.
