Now the truth -thank you - Im going for my C cat rather than the C1, as you suggested
the issue Im having is that most places do 5 day courses whereas I need to fit lessons in around work
Now the truth -
Most LGV training schools advertise courses over a number of consecutive days with a test on the last day BUT if you said that you want to do every weekend for 4 hours at a time and only wanted to book the test when ready to take it or you will try elsewhere then watch them try to accomodate you
That may cost a little more as weekend training and test rates tend to be higher
I did mine at Ritches they were great, maybe not the cheapest but I can't fault them really. I did the 5 days with the test at the end.
The only places I know of are Ritches:

Glasgow Training Group:
http://www.gtg.co.uk/courses/transport/lgvpcvtraining.html
or Malcolms at Linwood (don't know if they have a website)
There used to be a place at Hamilton but don't know if it is still there - a few places come up on Yell.com if you search there.
I'm not sure if any will do lessons rather than courses but may be worth phoning around and asking if you haven't done so. Originally my son was going to do his with Malcolms but they needed two people to run the course and didn't have anyone else - then they offered him the week he was working at Blair so he couldn't do that. Since then in spite of several phone calls they haven't come up with anything else so he has booked with Ritches for the end of the month.
They said the minimum training was 4 days and gave him a taster lesson for £20 to assess how much training he required and then booked his course. As they offer these assessments perhaps they would be able to do a series of lessons on that basis?
I don't know anything about the Glasgow Training Group but do know people that have been happy with both Malcolms and Ritches.
Hope that helps!
