Ive been grooming my Lhasa about twice a week thoroughly. She also gets bathed once a fortnight. However I am finding her coat gets matted even after a couple of days, its not that long either as she was clipped very short when we got her.

IS there any type of conditioning sprays I could apply? Similar to coat shine in horses?

On another note, i've noticed some small hairs growing in ear cannal, do any of you pluck these out yourself or should i leave it up to the dog groomer?

We always left our lhasa's ears to the groomer. We kept him short all over and nothing like you see show dogs. Made life much easier. He had his tail longish though and obviously we brushed him but he was clipped regularly and so didn't matt. although you said you keep yours short too... maybe a quick brush every day would suit your girl a bit better?

We lost ours in feb at age 15. Bossy little fella but one of the best dogs you could have wished for. Such a character.

Lhasa's are a nighmare to maintain...they are high maintenance....I would brush every day and keep him short as possible at all times.

I have a tool for plucking mylhasa's ears, I cant remember what its called but basically you clamp the hair, twist and pull. Done properly it wont hurt the dog so you could ask a groomer or breeder to show you how to do it.

Lhasa grooming isnt as bad as it seems if you have the right equipment.
I have 16 in full coat and manage them all myself so its not that hard!
A grooming spray is a great help and will help you to remove the tangles easily, i use the mink oil spray from Doreen Paige which is fabulous for apso coats, feeds it and stops it breaking.
I use Thornit for the ears, a small pinch in both ears, leave it for 5 minutes then pluck the hairs a bit at a time, this leaves the ears clean smelling and clear of infection.
Hope this helps
