My 6yo tb has lice!!!!
Were off to a dressage comp on sunday so thought I would give her mane a quick wash today so its not too fly away for saturdays plaiting and as we were towel drying it we could see all the eggs in her forelock and mane and the odd adult moving round too. She is only out in the field with my gelding who doesnt apear to have any signs whatsoever although we have moved to a new yard about 4 weeks ago. Tonight we have washed her completely head to foot in dermoline insectisidal shampoo and both horses have had rugs lined with louse powder. No other horses on the yard apear to have anything so far.
Mortified is not the word! my mum says she hasnt seen a case of lice in about 20 years! Off to get the copers fly stuff tomorrow which also apparently is good for treating lice. Any hints tips or idea where the hell this has come from?? She has been to a couple of shows in the past couple of weeks but we never allow her contact with horses when we are out.
I'm absolutely gutted, without sounding big headed my horses are always the ones people comment on how pristine they look. urgh I'm itching all over - I hope to god they cant live on people.
