Lice and Feather mites

We inject ours with cattle wormer, it has a substance in which the mites dont like.
Weve just clipped our boys feathers yestoday due to the scabs left over, but only the backs of his leggs so he looks like a bit of a proon :o
we also bought some mite and lice spray which were currently trying :) xx

I used coopers for lice last year (and this) but it didn't touch the feather mites. I've just brought the lotion quoted but used for the first time yesterday - and have been using pig oil and sulphur but to little use really - always comes back. I've just had him injected with dectomax which is for sheep and not licenced for horses but until I clear the golf-ball scabs wont know if this works.

ooops - link opened - its the lotion like this I have, not the spray. I did have the spray last year but it smelled like pure alcohol/nail varnish remover and I don't put flammable liquids on my horses.

I've only had my horse 7 weeks, when he came he had really sore legs especially behind his knees. He wouldn't even let me touch them. I had the vet out who said mites and gave him the injection of cattle wormer, within a few days he stopped scratching and after 2 weeks he had he second one done. I can't recommend it highly enough. He still has scabs on his legs but behind his knees have completely healed. And he now lets me peck off the scabs and I can now touch his legs.
