Lice and Rugs

One of my horses has just had a case of lice - which is now all cleared up. He was wearing a rug - can I just get it cleaned or do I have to throw it away.

you can get it cleaned no prob, but i bag it in a plastic bag and let the cleaning company know that the horse that was wearing this rug had lice

Hang it out in the sun, and dust with Coopers Louse powder if you want to, bear in mind that lice cannot live where there is no blood to suck. The adults will die and the newly hatched will follow suit.
