I posted about this in Breeding yesterday, apologies if your reading this twice.

Archie (yearling NF) has developed bald patches on his chest and girth area. There is no sore broken skin, just baldness. He also been scratching his legs together recently.

I'm going to treat him for lice/ mites just to be sure, can anyone recommend a good treatment? Bearing in mind he's only just turned a year so I don't really want to coat him in chemicals and he's never had a bath before!

He also has really dry flaky skin/ dandruff in his coat - anyone have any recommendations for this? He still has a huge winter/ baby coat!

Thanks

I've just used Coopers Fly Repellent Plus, £16 from the farm shop. Comes with gloves - two goes, two weeks apart seems to have killed them all.

Yep agree with the others on Coopers Fly RP, its great stuff, buy hey mine was about £22.00 as well....we must be shopping at the wrong tack shops

A second vote for the Deosect. It was put on 2 feral mares brought in off the forest who were extremely poor on Friday afternoon. They were crawling with lice and are already looking much better condition wise. Lice bring them down worse than worms do.
