was picking out freddie’s feet this morning when i noticed on one of his white patches there was lots of little black/grey/brown insects in it. i checked all over his body and there was none anywhere else, only little white flakes in his coat?
he’s only 5/6 months old, how do i go about treating him? don’t want to bathe him, it’s too cold and he’s only little (shetland cross fallabella)

meant to add, i’ve only had him less than a week, he doesn’t have turnout with other horses, gave him a thorough groom yesterday and 99% sure they weren’t there ?

Get some deosect from the vets - they can advise on dosage. Two doses of that 7-10 days apart and it killed all of them.

My youngster got lice when he was about 16 months old. I had to clip him out as he had a thick coat and long mane/feathers and then apply the deosect.

It's easy to treat and not too big an issue - however, some people can get a bit snotty about it - just ignore them!

This. Any of the spot on permethrin type drugs will soon sort them out, though you may have to repeat it more than once.
