Can someone please spread some light on why our dogs feel it's necessary to lick each other so incessantly?? We have 3 terriers, 1 is out with OH all day usually and other 2 are kennelled when we're not home. When we get home at a night and they're sat "relaxing" with us they insist on licking each other usually on the neck or side. I'm assuming it's a dominance/bonding thing but would like to know exactly why they do it?

Thanks

(and yes I'm sorry it drives me mad, the sound and motion of it uuuurrrrhg makes me shiver .....)

my old spangle licks his paw constantly - where he had a wart that's now been treated - but he still licks all the time - i also throw things at him! seems to work though thank god!

my lakeland x border licks the floor constantly, it drives me mad!!! I wish I knew why he did it, its not like there is anything spilt on it.

Both of my Yorkies like all of the time. Reb also loves licking press studs, the leather sofa, and the crystals on my slippers. Honestly, he's like a baby with a dummy.
